The History: The cemetery is located off Ruffin Road in
Irondale, Alabama. While it is claimed that the cemetery is over 200 years old,
the oldest graves we could find were from the 1860’s. It is also claimed that
there are lots of Civil War soldiers and slaves buried here. I can’t speak for
slave graves but I only found a handful of graves marked for Civil War
veterans.
The Claims: Cults performing rituals, open crypt and missing corpse, animal corpses around the cemetery, apparitions being seen, feeling of being followed and strange screams heard. Our Findings: We investigated Bass Cemetery on August 8, 2014 – it was extremely overcast and 73°. The cemetery is at the end of a long dirt road and while it is a very peaceful-looking setting, there is an active railroad on one side and a highway on the other. We saw no evidence of any ‘cult rituals’, there were no animal corpses strewn about and – if there was a crypt that had been broken into – any evidence of it is long gone. We caught nothing abnormal in any of the audio or video recordings. There were three interesting photos (see gallery). One of our cameras was set to snap a picture if there was any change in the energy field near it. This camera took three pictures – one shows a black mass and two show a white anomaly. It was extremely overcast that day with little to no shadowing. We can’t say for sure it’s paranormal…but it’s interesting. There was one personal experience. One of the investigators felt a 'touch' as she was conducting an EVP session. Exactly what caused it we can't be sure. |
