We made contact with Larry and Johnny, two inmates that had a sweet spot for our youngest investigator, Kayla.

History: The Old Bryan Jail, aka the Williams County jail, was originally built as a wooden structure in 1840 and sat on the west side of North Lynne Street. The current structure on Bryan Avenue was built in 1867 and was completely remodeled to its current look in 1938. It was last used as a medium security detention facility for inmates awaiting sentencing or trial, and inmates serving less than 2 years. It is unclear when the jail stopped housing prisoners and was shut down for good.
Claims: Claims of poltergeist type activity, feelings of dizziness and generally feeling ‘off’ have been made. Many believe it is a former sheriff who haunts this location. Our findings: We investigated the Old Bryan Jail in November, 2020. The jail was smaller than it appeared and the attached sheriff’s residence was occupied by a young family who could occasionally be heard talking and moving around. The night started out with a very light feeling. We quickly made contact with two inmates – Larry and Johnny – who were very interested in the youngest member of our team. About halfway through the night, as we were trying an experiment with the God Helmet, something dark and negative presented itself. As we conducted a spirit box session to get to the bottom of this negative energy, we captured some interesting EVPs. After this spirit box session, the energy appeared to flatten and no evidence was caught during the rest of the investigation. Is the old Bryan Jail haunted? We did make contact with two inmates looking to have a good time, and encountered something dark and negative. It’s certainly worth taking a second look. |
