History: The history of Pine Lawn Manor in Sumner, Illinois is sketchy. We believe it began its life as a hotel. We do know that it was a 98 bed nursing home in 1970 and changed to a 68 bed residential facility for developmentally disabled adults sometime prior to 1993. We know it was in operation at least through 2005. Exactly when it closed and why is unclear. Some individuals have claimed the facility was closed due to abuse and neglect of patients but we have been unable to find any reports or other documented evidence to support those claims.
Claims: Visitors claim to hear voices, communicate with 'Ed' a former nurse, and see shadow figures. Our Findings: We investigated Pine Lawn Manor in August, 2023. During our investigation, it rained heavily and we experienced extensive roof leaks within the facility. This made our audio recorders useless as the running and dripping water contaminated any audio evidence we may have captured. We used a variety of equipment including rempods, motion sensored lights, periscope 360, SLS cameras, K-II meters. All without success. However, on the static full spectrum cameras, we did capture one unexplained light anomaly and we had some interesting interaction with the spirit box. While we did not experience any of the terrifying activity claimed to take place in the manor, this location is worth a second look. |
